Intuition Behind a Bank Robbery: A Memory from My Childhood

When I was about 13, my family visited friends in East Anglia whom we had known in Hampshire for many years. Their father had relocated there as the manager of a local bank branch, and we stayed with the family a number of times. During one visit, he kindly showed us around his branch while it was closed.

As we walked through the bank, I suddenly said aloud, “I bet you’ve stolen some money.”

I remember him stopping dead in his tracks. His face went ashen, and he looked guilty as he processed what I had said. The energy around him seemed to change. At the time, I didn’t understand where the words had come from.

The moment stayed with me for many years. Later, an audit discovered that he had taken money from the bank to help fund his family’s lifestyle. He was eventually sentenced to a term in prison.

I recognise that people sometimes make painful choices when they feel pressure, fear or a need to appear successful. That does not remove responsibility for what happened, but it helps me hold the story with compassion.

What stayed with me most strongly was the feeling that I had sensed something before I had any conscious knowledge of it. It felt as though I had picked up on an energy around him—something unsettled within his aura that he was carrying just beneath the surface.

As I’ve grown older and developed my understanding of energy work, I’ve continued to notice feelings, emotions and energetic impressions without always being told what is happening. I’ve also learned not to vocalise every intuitive impression that arises.

I would not suggest that every feeling or impression is automatically accurate. Intuition can be subtle and can be influenced by our own experiences and assumptions. For me, though, this memory remains a powerful reminder that we can sometimes notice more than we consciously realise.
