What is in a name: Vita Reiki

We’ve recently evolved our name to Vita Reiki, and we wanted to share a little of the heart and meaning behind that change.

“Vita” is a Latin word that means “life” or “way of life”, and for us it speaks to your whole lived experience – the everyday moments, the challenges, the seasons of growth, rest, and renewal. Our work has always been about more than a single session; it’s about gently supporting you in your life as a whole, so “Vita” felt like the right word to hold that intention.

“Reiki” comes from two Japanese words: “Rei”, often translated as universal or spiritual, and “Ki”, meaning life energy or vital force. Together, Reiki is commonly described as universal life energy – a subtle, supportive flow that can help us relax, soften, and come back home to ourselves.

By bringing these ideas together, Vita Reiki for us means “life and spiritual energy” – a name that reflects the meeting point between everyday life and the universal energy that moves through all of us. We chose it because we want our space to feel grounded and real, but also deeply connected to something wiser, kinder and more spacious than the to‑do lists and noise of daily life.

As Vita Reiki, we continue to offer gentle, nourishing energy work to support your whole life – body, mind, heart and spirit – and to hold a calm, steady space where you can rest, reconnect, and remember who you are beneath the busyness.
